[Human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) isolated from a melanoma patient and were engineered to react with the melanoma antigen MART-1 (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T cells, also called Melan-A). These PBLs are transfected with a retroviral vector encoding anti-MART-1 specific T-cell receptors, grown in culture, and then transferred back to the patient. These genetically modified PBL may recognize and halt the growth of MART-1-expressing melanoma cells. ( NCI )]
