[Cadherin EGF LAG Seven-Pass G-Type Receptor 1, encoded by the human CELSR1 gene, is a G-Protein Coupled Receptor that may have an important role in cell/cell signaling during nervous system formation. It is an integral membrane protein with seven transmembrane domains, multiple cadherin repeats, EGF-like repeats, and laminin A G-type repeats. Two isoforms (1 and 2) may be produced by alternative splicing. The CELSR1 gene is developmentally regulated and neural-specific and the protein plays an unspecified role in early embryogenesis.
