CBT-1

[An orally available natural product and a multiple-drug resistance (MDR) modulator with potential antineoplastic enhancing activity. CBT-1 enters and attaches to the inside of the MDR pump P-glycoprotein (P-gp), a member of the ATP-binding cassette superfamily of transmembrane transporters and overexpressed in some multi-drug resistant tumors. By attaching to P-gp, CBT-1 prevents the pump from working effectively and reverses the P-gp mediated cancer cell resistance to a variety of chemotherapeutic agents. ( NCI )]
