[A urea analogue with bacterial urease inhibiting activity. Acetohydroxamic acid is used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by urease-producing bacteria. In addition, this drug is used in the prophylaxis and treatment of struvite renal calculi, whose formation is favored by urease-producing bacteria, by dissolving renal stones as well as preventing the formation of new crystals.
