[Nuclear Receptor Coactivator 1 is a co-activator for the full transcriptional activity of ligand-activated PGR, ESR, GRL, THR, and RXRA through their DNA response elements. SRC1 can also enhance the transcriptional activity of SP1, but not E2F, E47, or CREB. SRC1 has a glutamine-rich and a serine/threonine-rich region. SRC1 can also bind to TBP and to TFIIB, in addition to nuclear hormone receptors in a ligand-dependent manner; SRC1 may bridge nuclear hormone receptors with general transcription factors. Studies suggest a dual role for SRC1 in chromatin remodeling and in recruitment/stabilization of general transcription factors. (from OMIM 602691 and NCI) ( NCI )]
