Ofatumumab
[A fully human, high-affinity IgG1 monoclonal antibody directed against CD20 cell surface antigen with potential antineoplastic activity. Ofatumumab binds specifically to CD20 molecule on the surface of B-cells. CD20 antigen found on over 90% of B-cell lymphomas, as well as other lymphoid tumors of B-cell origin, acts as a calcium ion channel and regulates early steps in B lymphocyte activation. Following binding, ofatumumab triggers a complement-dependent cell lysis and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity on B-cells overexpressing CD20, thereby depleting and preventing the proliferation of these B-cells.
